‘‘Without trust, there can be no enduring power.’ – Tao Te Ching
Companies spend years and billions of dollars in making products and selling services that can be trusted by their consumers. As the trust is built, thus the brand is built. Trust is therefore the building block of any brand. Just as trust helps sell a product/service, similarly, having trustworthy people builds an organisation.
Trust motivates people to perform and give their best to the team. It unites a team and makes it play like a unit. Our sessions break up the components of trust, and bring forth the fact that trust is a hard and measurable quality. It is not merely a product of intent, but also of consistent and visible performance. One of the biggest roles of a leader is to build the climate of trust amongst the team. Experiential learning gets the participant aware of her trusting ability, and the factors that influenced her trust level, both towards others, as well as her own self. Participants discuss with each other the behaviours that enabled trust, and what broke it. Thus, one is able to identify specific actions that are conducive to growing trust, and is able to focus and repeat those behaviours more often. On a deeper level, a participant can reflect on how much she trusts herself. The ability to trust oneself is directly proportionate to being able to trust others. As we set our inner world right, the outer world falls in its place too.
Lack of trust slows down an organisation, creates bureaucracy, creates conflict, and forces leaders to devote their time and energy to resolving issues, instead of focussing on their core business. Urgent matters take precedence over important ones. On the other hand, high trust levels speeden up the decision making process, lowers the cost of operations and makes an organisation more nimble and responsive.
Trust is one issue that’s high on the minds of most leaders and organisations, but least addressed in an organised manner. It affects every fabric of an individual’s life, be it family, friends, professional or inner world. Quest programs are focussed to address this burning and relevant issue, to produce long lasting changes that positively impact individuals as well as organisations.
